Getting Girls to Code

ANK, best ngo in Delhi-NCR, is committed towards promoting gender equality and women empowerment. Getting Girls to Code program is just another addition to the string of efforts being made towards this.

Getting Girls to Code or GGC is a comprehensive training program in digital marketing that equip girls with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in today's rapidly evolving job environment. Through this program, ANK aims to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry and provide girls with equal opportunities for growth and success.

Statistics indicate that girls from the lesser-privileged communities are more likely to opt for traditional courses such as cutting and tailoring or beauty parlor training after completing their 12th. However, ANK is committed to pave the path towards aspirational jobs in the tech industry and help them cross the lakshman-rekha of homemakers and dependence on others. With this vision in mind, the GGC program was initiated which provides training in digital marketing along with Spoken English and Soft Skills, completing the 360-degree path towards employability.

The 6-month course covers topics such as web designing, SEO and SMO executive, graphic designing, and social media management. The program equips them with the resources and support they need to break barriers and pursue rewarding careers in the IT industry. This, in turn, will lead to an upward mobility and economic empowerment for these girls.

ANK understand the importance of industry exposure for the girls in our program. Thus, apart from traditional classes and hands-on training, we actively encourage CSR employee engagement activities to provide the girls with firsthand experience and insights into the industry. The project provides an excellent opportunity for the girls and corporate volunteers to connect and share experiences working in IT sector. This exposure helps the GGC beneficiaries understand the practical aspects of the digital marketing field and prepares them for real-world challenges.

At ANK, we firmly believe that empowering girls with education and skills not only transforms their lives but also createimpact on society as a whole. By investing in their education and providing them with the necessary tools for success, we are paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future.

In 2021, nearly one in five young women were married before the age of 18. The highest rates of child marriage are found in Southern Asia, where 28 per cent of young women, were married in childhood. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have put more girls at risk, owing to economic shocks, school closures and interruptions in social services. By 2030, up to 10 million more girls are likely to become child brides, in addition to the 100 million girls who were projected to be at risk before the pandemic.(SDGs Report 2022 Indicators Goal-05, n.d.)

Getting Girls to Code program falls in line with the Government's initiative to raise the minimum age of marriage for women from 18 to 21 years, providing an opportunity to explore career prospects and contribute to national growth. ANK aims to achieve this by providing Digital Marketing and Personality Development training to young girls, empowering them to become financially independent.
